This year, 2017, the American Library Associations's symbol is LIBRARIES TRANSFORM. Their website offers lots of great qoutes that apply to kids who got to the library.
BECAUSE LEARNING STARTS BEFORE KIINDERGARTEN. (A child's brain learns even before birth. Check out the 10 Most Asked Questions about Child's Brain Development at SHARP BRAINS: https://sharpbrains.com/blog/2010/11/23/top-10-qa-about-childs-brain-development-brain-health-series-part-1/
BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THEMSELVES IN THE BOOKS THEY READ. ( I said this a long time ago, when I created Books-in-Action. Check is out at wix.com/html/editor/web/renderer/edit/c3fd0a99-6a37-4128-8401-ebe203fee0f8?metaSiteId=4a5f60a2-3f7a-4187-9eb9-cfbec9e3b4d4&editorSessionId=93117F67-0584-4E73-881E-D90FCA7192E4 Or go to my website at http://www.judieryan.com and click on Books-in-Action.)
BECAUSE STUDENTS WHO SPEND TIME READING OVER THE SUMMER, WIND UP ON THE HONOR ROLL IN THE FALL. ( But they'll do even a lot better in their lives if they become self-motivated readers, as opposed to readers who get stickers, or prizes or money. Because the reward is what the child is focused on not the joy of reading.)
